I recently teamed up once again with Satya James and Donatella Parisini to shoot Satya's new collection inspired by the swashbuckling ladies of the high seas and infused with some beautiful gypsy elements. Once again the glorious Miss James has outdone herself in creating an absolutely divine collection of womens-wear that's both playful and absolutely delicious. In prep for this shoot I spent a couple of days with Satya in her studio customizing hats that had been shaped by the lady herself and Amanda Dudley and making a gypsy pirate inspired headdress to use as props. The shoot itself went beautifully - as things always do with Donatella! We commenced the day in her gorgeous studio in Suffolk Park and I started applying makeup that integrated the colours from the collection while the lovely Jarrah Hustler set to work styling Satya, Carmen and Lakita's hair. Donatella and her lovely assistant Byron captured some beautiful studio shots after which we descended on an amazing lunch prepared by the lovely Lousie before heading down to Brunswick. Here the luscious ladies really got into character - commandeering a local fishing boat whose lovely owner was kind enough to take us out of the harbour so we could really get into the spirit of things. All in all another wonderful shoot with some of my favourite ladies - I'm very much looking forward to seeing the results! xxx

Hello all and sorry for the lack of news in what appears to have been rather a long while... I've temporarily fled the icy winds of Melbourne and exchanged them for a pleasantly roasting English summer with the one and only Happy Slap Boutique. Over the last few weeks we did makeup for performers and punters in the VIP section of Wireless Festival run by Cirque Du Soir, and have recently returned from an insane week of creative horror themed debauchery at Kendall Calling Festival near the lake district. Next we'll be taking up residency in El Barrio Loco - the newly established Latin Quarter at the one and only Boomtown Festival - something I am more than a little excited about it must be said..... And just to top things off I've just received a lovely set of samples from Arbonne which I'll be testing out and reviewing as soon as festival time is over.
I'll start posting festival photos as they come in but for now I've got a few for you from my last play session with the sumptuous Donatella Parisini showcasing the red weave wig inspired by Victorian mourning art. Thank you to our beautiful model Elle for her radiance, to Satya James for the gorgeous hand white lace corset and skirt, to the Silver Lining for the use of their clothes, props and jewelery, and of course to the marvelous Donatella herself. Enjoy! Yesterday was spent in the company of some truly wonderful women (and men), collaborating to capture some shots of Satya James's latest divine collection. This time we were working with Byron based photographer Donatella Parisini at her gorgeous studio in Suffolk Park, with Satya and the lovely Rohini as models and me on hair and makeup.
We started out with simpler outfits, gradually adding more textures, colours, layers and accessories with each wardrobe change - and I tried to reflect this with each different look for hair and makeup by starting off fairly simple and gradually going a bit crazier. The new collection draws from a gorgeous colour palette of black, white, gold, wine red, coppery burnt orange and turquoise so I had plenty to work with and tried to bring elements of each outfit into the makeup. We also utilized some of the custom head pieces that I made Satya for her launch last year to add some extra drama - very exciting as I'll finally be able to share them with you! Satya is always wonderful to work with as she's so encouraging and gives me plenty of freedom to play with looks and ideas. Both her and Rohini looked stunning and sumptuous in front of the camera - and Donatella was just amazing! I have such a huge appreciation for photographers who are confident in what they're doing and bring professionalism, creativity and energy to a shoot - it makes a world of difference. All in all a great day and I'm looking forward to seeing the results of all our work :) It looks like I'm going to be leaving Byron Shire for a while - which is a bit of a shame as now that I've found Donatella I'm itching to do more work with her, alas c'est la vie! Have to fund my return to England this summer somehow..... The photos from last weeks geisha shoot with Satya James are here & I must say I'm really very pleased with them!! I wanted a bright bold made up that corresponded to the the geometric pattern on the dress - a beautiful piece by Satya which she made out of a very striking kimono. As for the hair - our gorgeous model Steph has beautiful long dreadlocks which were great to work with - you can get so much shape and volume out them & then there's the added bonus that they hold accessorizes very well. A wonderful shoot & a big thank you to everyone involved!
I just got a few photos from a shoot I did with Satya James a few months ago - you can see them all in my make up portfolio... The photos from last weeks geisha shoot should be up tomorrow if all goes to plan!
Isn't it just brilliant when things come together? I've just had a lovely evening with Satya James doing a very feisty Geisha shoot showcasing a beautiful Japanese inspired dress. The dress was beautiful, the model was an absolute diamond, the photographer was a total star, the space was just fantastic... and the hair and make up looked pretty damn good too - I'm a very happy girl right now. I had a sneaky peak at the photos and am so so excited about getting them next week and being able to share them - so watch this space! In the meantime why not entertain yourself by checking out my friend Luca Riboni and his beautiful photography - go to my Links page or click here to visit his Flickr portfolio .
Its been rather a long time since I've posted anything so thought it was about time for an update and an explanation....
I've been traipsing around the east coast of Australia fulfilling visa requirement a.k.a lots and lots of farm work, which hasn't left much time for indulging myself in the joys of make up, alas! However a couple of week ago I teamed up with the magnificent Satya James again on a photo shoot to showcase her new - and absolutely exquisitely gorgeous - range of clothes. It was absolutely wonderful to collaborate with Satya and photographer Ol'jai again - and I'm looking forward to seeing the photos later this week, so hopefully I'll be able to share them soon! Farming must commence again so there may not be a great deal of make up going on over the next couple of months - however as I'm now traveling with my dear friend Clementine I have a willing face to experiment on, and seeing as my airbrush is finally up and working again this could prove to be a lot of fun. I've done a couple make ups on her over the past few days and also set to work making a headband out of various feathers and pieces of broken jewelery which I think has worked rather nicely... |
